The Founders

In life, married couples tend to walk parallel lives; he’s out slaying
the dragons and she is either staying at home raising the kids, has a career
of her own, or doing both and trying to juggle work and family.
With
these challenges to building a successful marriage and a strong family, couples
need to intentionally process life together. Processing isn’t limited to
careers or raising the children but growing spiritually as one, sharing dreams
and hopes that both have created together. What would happen if couples were
intentional about walking life together and processing their faith as a couple?
We dare you to find out!
The Phoenix Leadership Forum exists, born out of the hearts of Eric and Jennifer
Garcia, to see couples take on life together as one and see what God can do when
they follow His success plan for life. The Garcias have tried it and have seen
their own marriage strengthened and enriched as they developed this philosophy
of “Coupleness.”
Eric and Jennifer have a passion to see couples lead as couples. Couples walk
into life as a team and see the Lord use them in a mighty way. The Garcias are
examples of this model as founders of two organizations committed to strengthening
marriages and families- Phoenix Leadership Forum and Association of Marriage
and Family Ministries (AMFM).
Eric and Jennifer serve as lay leaders on the marriage ministry team at their
church, Scottsdale Bible Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nearly 4 years ago they
launched the Couple-to-Couple Marriage Mentoring Ministry and have a great team
building this ministry with them. As couples and churches have heard about this
mentoring ministry, the Garcias have enjoyed numerous opportunities to train
churches in how to build a successful sustainable marriage mentoring ministry.
Eric has spent the last 25 years as a business owner, board member, business
and ministry consultant, and executive. His real passion is engaging relationships
with individuals and couples, encouraging them in their walk with the Lord or
challenging them to a life in Christ. Proverbs 3:5-6 stays at the forefront of
Eric’s mind as a promise of God he depends on.
Jennifer has her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and taught
school for nine years. For years she was involved in church choirs, worship teams,
and leading women’s bible studies. She now works with Eric researching
and connecting with ministries, as well as traveling, training and speaking on
Marriage and Family Ministry. Jennifer’s life verse has not changed in
over twenty years; Isaiah 26:3 encourages her more these days than ever before.
Eric and Jennifer both grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and have known each
other since elementary school. Although they grew up attending the same schools
and church, their paths never crossed until they had finished college and were
well into their careers.
They have been married fifteen years and have four children. Hudson, named
after Hudson Taylor; Erika, named after her daddy; and twin boys, Elliot and
Wesley, named after Jim Elliot and John Wesley.
Eric and Jennifer feel God has given them a calling to serve couples who are
walking through one of the most critical stages of life.
